![]() The steps in the DIY said "put in mode 4 (virgin/new) and read decrypted bin" so it made me think it had to be put into virgin/new mode to retrieve the SKC. Is this a key with a new immobilizer pill? When I programmed the 3 keys to the car, they had already been registered to the car before so it worked without any other work. You can choose to stop there and just go to VCDS to do the adaptation linked above or you can choose to save the bin but it is not needed as you are just logging into the cluster using the SKC. When you read the decrypted bin, the SKC will show at the bottom of the screen. You can read the cluster in both modes and save them if you feel like backing them up. No writing is needed of bins if you are just adding a key/immobilizer. I just did it this weekend, adapting an S4 cluster into an A4, so it is very fresh in my mind. The only reason for reading is for backup. ![]() There is no writing unless the cluster is bricked.
